Although born in Ohio I-was raised in a funny loving kind loud honest occasionally verbally aggressive but always fair Australian household, my step parents consisted of an old mining town German whore with a love of the minor intellectual pursuits such as correct use of dictionary words, and her husband, a two tour World War Two Aussie sergeant who could be pretty scary if he wound up, very, yet he never slugged me until he was 81 and, truth be told, I’d bloody deserved it too, they were real archetypal salt of the earth people…
